I started this blog a little over two years ago. Unfortunately, it ended then as well.
However, this summer I have again been inspired to blog (and hopefully keep it up this time). George Couros's book, Innovator's Mindset, has played a large part in motivating me. Seeing George Couros speak in person has also motivated me. Being a part of IMMOC and sharing other's journeys has motivated me. But still, I resisted.
This past weekend, I got the opportunity to see Ron Clark speak at ISRA Fall Conference in Noblesville, IN. That inspired me as well.
The message through these sources has been made clear to me. I need to share what I know. I need to share what I do. I need to share, period! Even if the only person reading my blog is me, it will be worthwhile.
This summer I spent much time out of my comfort zone presenting at some Indiana Tech conferences. I must confess, I loved every minute of it. Not because of what I shared, but because of what everyone learned, including me. Because I was willing to share, others shared, and all of us are better for it.
I am so excited for the opportunity to be a part of this IMOOC group so that sharing and bettering can keep on happening.
You will notice, if you read back to my first post from over 2 years ago, that an innovator's mindset is peeking through. When I re-read and reflected on that post, I thought, WOW. I was pushing myself then, and I am pushing myself now. I never want to be satisfied with status quo. One of the signs that tells me I am an innovative educator came through a discussion with one of my building tech people. My computer needed re-imaged, and the tech person asked me if I had things I needed to make sure were saved off of the hard drive before that happened. I thought a moment and then responded that since I had been using Google Drive for 2 years now, there was nothing on the hard drive I needed. No old files that I open every year. I don't repeat things often. I look at the students I have, figure out what they need, and create anew.
Thanks for "listening".
